WKGS is the #1 school on Wirral...Official
We are delighted to announce that West Kirby Grammar School has been recognised as the top school on Wirral (and second in Merseyside) with a five star rating by the Liverpool Echo. In a survey of schools from across Liverpool, The Wirral, Sefton, Halton and Warrington, this is a tremendous achievement.
However, we were also pleased to feature in the top five of many other categories including:
- Five stars in each of the following areas; Attainment,Teaching, Attendance & Outcomes
- First place across Merseyside for attainment (at GCSE and A-level)
- Place in the top five of all schools in Merseyside for quality of Teaching
- Third across Merseyside for Attendance
This accolade is a true reflection of the hard work of all of our students, staff and parents, who work together to make a big difference to the lives of our young people. West Kirby Grammar School was ranked 40th in the country out of 3,123 schools this year, which is a tremendous achievement.
Headteacher, Mrs Alison Duffy, was delighted to hear the news of our top ranking. Her vision for the school is to remain committed to offering a rich curriculum with over 25 A-level courses and a plethora of enrichment activities for students in all year groups. All students participate in lessons which stretch them beyond the boundaries of the National Curriculum including the new Pre-U Global Perspectives course in the Sixth Form and our new-look Health & PSHE focus days, which begin in September 2015. Our KS4 curriculum is also changing to a three-year model to not only allow for deeper learning, but also to offer an additional subject for students to widen the breadth of their studies. All of this, coupled with excellent standards in pastoral care and 21st century tools for learning, makes WKGS a very successful school. Our School tries to recognise the potential in every student and we are delighted that this has been noted by the Liverpool Echo in its survey.
Many congratulations to all of our students and staff.
