Mrs Elaine Sargent - Headteacher
Mrs Sargent qualified as a teacher in 1995 after studying for a degree in Zoology at the University of Liverpool and a short period of time in research. Having worked in five previous schools, Mrs Sargent has a wide range of school experience, beginning as a teacher of science in a Wirral school, before enjoying a variety of promoted science positions in two different schools in Wales.
In 2006, Mrs Sargent returned to teach on the Wirral as Head of Science at Upton Hall School. It was here that she discovered her passion for teaching girls, enabling them to excel in a grammar school environment. She subsequently became Assistant Head and remained at Upton Hall for a total of seven years before taking up the position of Deputy Headteacher at Bishop Heber High School in Cheshire, one of the top performing comprehensive schools in the North West.
Both senior leadership roles encompassed a wide range of experiences including teaching & learning, curriculum, significant pastoral responsibilities and a real focus on raising standards to ensure that all students achieve their potential. Mrs Sargent is a qualified Specialist Leader in Education and has also achieved the National Professional Qualification for Headship (NPQH).
Whatever her role, Mrs Sargent has ensured that there is no compromise on high standards and she has been instrumental in ensuring that students not only excel, but that there is an excitement about learning. Mrs Sargent's own two children attended a girls' grammar school and so she has had the parent perspective, experiencing first-hand the benefits of an education that is focused on ensuring that able girls are the 'best that they can be' in all areas of life, not just the academic.
Outside of school, Mrs Sargent is a musician and she has also taught music alongside a variety of other subjects. She also loves to run, taking part in her local parkrun in North Wales each week, although just occasionally she will be spotted running parkrun on the Wirral at Birkenhead Park.
