Business & Economics Teacher
0.5/0.6FTE | MPS/UPS
From 1 September 2017
Responsible to: Head of Business & Economics
The Governors wish to appoint a temporary, part time teacher until January 2018, but this may be extended. The post will be between 0.5-0.6 FTE and the successful post holder must have experience teaching GCSE Business Studies. Experience teaching A-level Economics is strongly desirable. The 0.5/0.6FTE will be timetabled over three days (same days both weeks in our two week timetable) to aid child care etc.
Experienced colleagues and newly qualified teachers are welcome to apply.
The department is led by a dedicated Head of Department who has grown the subject in the past three years. There are around 60 students in each GCSE year and Economics A-level attracts around 20 students per year. The department follows the Edexcel 9-1 GCSE specification in Years 9-10 and the Edexcel legacy specification in Year 11. We have a three year KS4 programme.
At A-level we follow the Edexcel Economics B specification (which includes around 30% Business). A-level teaching is in our Sixth Form Centre in a recently modernised classroom with interactive television. GCSE Business is taught in the main school in a large room with flexible layout to enable discussion. This room will have an interactive television from September 2017.
There are opportunities to develop links with local businesses, organise workshops and candidates with an interest in helping to organise trips and visits or engaging external speakers are very welcome to apply.
The school site is totally wireless and tablets/laptops can be used for Business lessons.
